Jr. LYF Newsletter - September 2010
Responsible jr. high/sr.high students, and adults are welcome to work at the After School Care program any day, even if for one day or an hour or so, in the areas of homework assistance (1st-5th grade levels), outside play supervision, and/or board game play. Volunteer forms are available in the Parish Hall lobby, call the church office , or talk to Mr. Spilker in advance to offer, or for questions.
The Fall Sunday School quarter officially begins this Sunday, from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at ALIS. Students will go right to their classrooms at ALIS and not begin in the gym as in the past.
Public School 5-8 grade confirmation classes begin this Wed. from 3:30-4:45 p.m. in the PH lower level. There will be no class on Wed., Sept. 8th. Classes will resume on Sept. 15 and continue every week unless otherwise noted.
An important TWO-Part Workshop about Youth Ministry
Part 1
Parents of Jr. and Sr. LYF members and any other adults working/helping with jr/sr high youth, interested in youth ministry, or have concerns about the youth of today, are invited to a workshop on Saturday, September 18th from 1:30 PM - 4:15 PM. at St. Paul, Blue Point. The workshop will be led by Dr. Rev. Michael Eschelbach, from Concordia University Chicago. He will be considering the challenges of youth ministry and how the Church can respond. There is no cost, but advance registration is requested to assure adequate materials for participants. RSVP to Vern Spilker by calling the church office or emailing him at vspilker@frontiernet.net.
Part 2
In the evening, Dr. Eschelbach will lead an event for High School youth form 7 – 11 p.m. Jr. LYF members may also attend if you wish. Rides can be arranged if you let Vern know.
7/8th grade Jr. LYF members and parents planning meeting and family night, Sun., Sept. 19th at 6:00 p.m. Watch for a letter to be sent out and the immanuelaltamont.org website for final details. All Jr. LYF members and parents should attend. You will be planning activities for the coming year.
Be in Worship and Sunday School every week, no excuses.
